'It's the large, powerful engine and the ''slippery'', light-weight design that give muscle cars their name. Chevrolet® became a top muscle car manufacturer with models like the Corvette®, Nova ''SS'' and the Chevelle. When Chevy® introduced the Chevelle in the early `60s, no one dreamed of the sensation that it would eventually become. By 1970, the standout was the high-powered Chevelle SS 454, at one time called ''The Meanest Muscle Car Ever Built.''
