History

At the onset of World War II, the Swedish Air Force comprised 180 aircraft of various models, primarily sourced from nations such as Britain, the US, Germany, and Italy. The first locally designed aircraft emerged in 1942, yet to maintain neutrality, Sweden continued to bolster its fleet with foreign-made planes. This trend persisted into the jet era, although Sweden was actively developing its own jet fighters.
